Car Free!

Speaking today from County Hall after the Tories refused en masse to support European Car Free Day, County Cllr Gail Bones said, "The new Tory leader has not changed the climate of conservatism that rules absolutely in county hall.

Despite being wooed by the snake-oil-salesman words of their own leader direct from his speech given in Oslo in April this year, Keith Mitchell and his colleagues have blatantly shown what a hollow sham VOTE BLUE;GO GREEN really is."

The County Council faced a motion to support the Lib Dem-led city council in taking part in European Car Free Day on September 22nd this year. None of the county Tories could bring themselves to support this, despite their leader's trip to Norway to see the effects of climate change for himself. Dr Steve Goddard, Oxford East's Parliamentary Spokesman, said, "As always county Tories have no regard for the people who live in the city of Oxford. They have no councillors here and when they behave in this way it is clear to see they never will have."

Dr Evan Harris MP said, "David Cameron may try to talk like a concerned environmentalist, but his fellow Oxfordshire Tories think like Tories; talk like Tories and vote like Tories."
